Privacy and cookies
Short version: we only use your details to answer your enquiry, and this website sets no tracking cookies of its own.
Who we are
This website is operated by the owners of The Olive Farm, a holiday rental at Kato Samiko, Ilia, Greece. You can contact us using the enquiry form on the home page, which reaches us by email, or on WhatsApp.
What we collect
When you send an enquiry we receive the information you choose to give us: your name, your email address, optionally a phone number, your requested dates, the number of guests, and whatever you write in the message. If you email or message us directly, we receive whatever is in that message.
Why we hold it, and for how long
We use your details only to answer your enquiry, to quote you, and - if you book - to manage your stay and to meet our legal and accounting obligations. We do not add you to a mailing list and we do not sell or share your details with anyone for marketing.
We keep enquiry correspondence only as long as we need it: we delete enquiries that do not lead to a booking within a reasonable period, and records relating to a completed booking only for as long as tax and accounting rules require.
Under data protection law our basis for this is our legitimate interest in answering the enquiries we are sent. Once you book, we rely on our contract with you, and for the records we are required to keep, on our legal obligations. We do not rely on your consent for any of it.
Who else is involved
We use a booking management system to keep our availability calendar and bookings in order, and our email is hosted with our web host. Where a booking is made through Airbnb or VRBO, that platform’s own privacy policy also applies to the information you give them.
Cookies
This website itself does not set advertising or tracking cookies, and it does not use any third-party analytics unless you can see a cookie notice telling you otherwise. If we enable analytics in future, we will say so here and give you a way to refuse it.
The availability calendar fetches a public calendar file from our booking system. That request does not identify you and does not set a cookie on this site, but it does mean your browser contacts that service, which will see your IP address in the ordinary way any web request does.
Your rights
If you are in the UK or the European Union you have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to how we use it, and to complain to your data protection authority. To exercise any of these, write to us: the enquiry form on the home page reaches our mailbox, and so does a message on WhatsApp.
Links to other sites
We link to Airbnb, VRBO and other third-party sites. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.
