Samis Castle, Kato Samiko, West peloponnese

The area of Kato Samiko is one of the earliest populated parts of Greece, with Samis Castle dominating the lake and forest below, providing much-needed security from the pirates and marauders who throughout history have plagued the Mediterranean. Now, just a 20 minute walk away from the house, you can enjoy the outstanding views across the Gulf of Kyparissia towards Zakinthos (Zanti) and Kefalonia.

The village itself is set on the edge of what used to be a large lake, but which has now been drained to provide a huge tract of table-flat farmland. Completely undeveloped, this is agricultural Greece at its best. The Olive Farm sits on the hills overlooking the village, with open views northwest towards Zakinthos and Kefalonia
